The Adelaide Mums Group hosts a range of events for members.
Our current event is a Zoom seminar with qualified counsellor Wendy Gilroy, to discuss all the issues impacting families due to the COVID-19.
While mums are used to balancing life and the demands placed on them, the challenge of not being able to have a break from parenting, due to social distancing (especially for mums working from home) has no doubt created even more stress. If you're feeling guilty, bored, overwhelmed and anxious right now, you're not alone.
Wendy is experienced in supporting women with their emotional wellbeing, with a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) and a Diploma of Counselling, and as a mum herself, is very familiar with the challenges of all stages of parenting.
This 1 hour seminar with Wendy will allow mums to learn techniques and discuss ways to help navigate the way through this really unique period in time, and help them to emerge from it with their mental health in tact. Held at 8pm on AEST, it's open to mums all over Australia, and is only $35.
Some of the topics discussed will include:
How to manage homeschooling with working from home
Anxiety about job security and financial difficulty
How to keep kids entertained and manage their screen time
Resources for activities and play for kids of all ages
Strain on marital / de facto relationships and how to try and strengthen them during this time
How to recognise anxiety and depression, and be aware of triggers
Overcoming loneliness and staying connected with friends
Facing the uncertainty of the future and how to stay positive
Wendy uses a mix of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred therapy, solution-focussed therapy and mindfulness-based stress-reduction techniques to helps mums focus on what they can control. It will be a closed seminar with just you and the other mums, so you can feel confident that your privacy will be maintained.
We are keeping the number of people between 6-8 to ensure everyone has the chance to ask questions throughout the 1 hour session, and to get feedback on their personal circumstances. Be sure to book early to avoid missing out.
